Did you know that you can invest in non-traditional investments (often called alternative investments) such as real estate, deeds of trust, mortgages, tax lien certificates, closely held business entities like LLCs, limited partnerships or C corporations, inside your self-directed retirement accounts?
It opens up a whole new source of capital for investment purposes.
@wexeter Client of mine actually just used Exeter to use their Self Directed IRA to provide a mortgage; they used their attorney to draft the note, mortgage docs etc…and closing was at the Title Company. I know the Billionaire co-founder of PayPal put his company stock into a Self Directed Roth IRA; and I’ve seen investors use those same vehicles to invest in other companies. Site website links that can show the dos/donts or 101s ?
I’ve heard about this but always assumed it was super complex or just for rich folks. Are there minimums for investing in things like real estate syndications or mortgage notes through a self-directed IRA? I’ve got a small Roth IRA I’m not doing much with, would be cool to put it to better use than just watching it inch up in a mutual fund.
