What are reasonable home improvement costs these days?

Hey everyone,

I’m budgeting for a few upgrades things like flooring, a kitchen refresh, maybe a bathroom, and I’m trying to get a sense of what’s actually reasonable right now. Prices seem all over the place depending on who you ask.

For those who’ve done updates recently, how much did you end up spending? Did you go with contractors or DIY parts of it? Any tips on where to save and where it’s worth spending a bit more?

Trying to avoid getting ripped off or underestimating the cost. Would love to hear what others have paid lately.

Great thread, I’m looking at a similar project this fall.

Quick Q for those who’ve done kitchens: is it worth paying extra for quartz counters, or are newer laminates holding up well these days? Would love to hear real-world feedback!

Paint, lighting, and thoughtful styling cost under $3K but helped us sell above asking. You don’t always need a full gut to finish strong.
